Sundays at Wasaga Beach United

Sunday services are the cornerstone of our week at Wasaga Beach United Church. Our service begins at 9:30 a.m., which includes a thoughtful sermon, beautiful choral music and an opportunity for coffee and conversation following the service.

 All are welcome:
Regardless of faith, gender, sexual orientation, ability, native language, or age, you are welcome. You will be greeted warmly, treated with dignity and your privacy will be respected. We will be glad you came and will hope to leave you with some spiritual sustenance. Children are welcome as well.

What to expect:
When you enter the church, church Volunteers will greet you. The Service information is displayed on the screen at the front of church which is  a play-by-play of everything that will happen during the service. Words and phrases in boldface type are usually spoken by the entire congregation in unison. These are called “responses.” You are welcome to sit wherever you wish and participate to whatever degree is comfortable for you.

The service includes bible readings, a sermon and music. Normally people stand up and sing during a hymn once the organ starts playing, but if you are unable to stand or are feeling tired then there is no pressure to do so.

Communion:
We celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion at our 9:30 a.m. Sunday service. As with all aspects of our services, all are welcome. If you are uncomfortable with the ritual or do not understand it fully, then you are welcome to remain in your seat. No one will pressure you to receive the elements of bread and grape juice. If you would like to take part but are unsure of what to do, our Pastor will give brief instructions or you can watch and learn from those around you.

The Offering:
The Offering is an act of worship for Christians. It is a symbol of our belief that everything we have comes from God. Offerings support our church (including staff remuneration) as well as programs across Canada and abroad. It is perfectly fine to let the offering plate pass you by, any offering you make helps us to keep our doors open and our services available. Tax receipts are available for offerings of $20 or more. There are many other ways to contribute, including your time, efforts and resources.

Coffee Time: PLEASE NOT THAT THERE WON'T BE ANY FELLOWSHIP TIME AFTER THE SERVICES FOR JANUARY & FEBRUARY 2020 MAS OUR EXISTING KITCHEN UNDERGOES RENOVATIONS IN CONJUNCTION WITH OUR CURRENT BUILDING EXPANSION.
Following the service, we gather for coffee, refreshments and conversation. Newcomers are encouraged to stay and join. You will have a chance to meet and mingle with other folks and enjoy some sweet treats.
